🟢 In 1923, Herbert “Buba” Humphreys, alongside his father Frank Humphreys, founded Kennesaw Fruit Company, growing oranges, pineapples, watermelons, and more. In 2025, Buba’s great-grandson, August Kokus, founded The MayaNut Company, focused exclusively on cultivating MayaNut, following in his family's farming footsteps.
🟢 To continue our family’s Florida farming heritage, August Kokus is establishing Florida’s first MayaNut farm while openly sharing research and data on Brosimum alicastrum. Our mission is to develop MayaNut as a sustainable, long-term crop so others can follow, learn, and take part in building a lasting legacy for generations to come.
